Wantage church to host free Christmas concert

WANTAGE — A world-class choir will give a free performance on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Holy Spirit Orthodox Church. St. Tikhon’s Mission Choir from St. Tikhon’s Monastery in South Canaan, Pa., will perform a Christmas concert at 7 p.m.

Holy Spirit Orthodox Church is located at 102 Route 284, Wantage. Refreshments in the fellowship hall will follow the concert. For more information about the concert, visit www.holyspiritorthodox.org.

“The choral music really is high art worthy of interest to any lover of music. The idea of having the concert is to reach out to the community, highlight the beauty of orthodox choral music, and raise awareness of the presence of our parish here in Sussex and the presence of orthodoxy in America,” said church parishioner Seth Fleishman.

St. Tikhon’s music director is Benedict Sheehan, who played a key role in two of the 2019 Grammy-nominated projects for Best Choral Performance — the Clarion Choir’s recently released disc “Kastalsky: Memory Eternal” and the PaTRAM Institute Male Choir’s disc “Teach Me They Statutes.”
